Chapter 01 · The brief

OBD device already in the vehicle. No mobile platform to surface the data.

An automotive OEM with diagnostic data in every vehicle — and no way to put it in front of drivers or fleet managers.

An automotive OEM wanted to surface on-board diagnostics data to both individual consumers and fleet managers through a native mobile application. The OBD device was already installed in vehicles — the gap was a mobile platform that could connect to it, interpret the data, and present it meaningfully to two different audiences with different needs.

Consumer drivers needed contextual alerts and service notifications. Fleet managers needed a view across their entire fleet, with trip history and maintenance scheduling.

Chapter 02 · Build

Native iOS and Android paired with a backend IoT platform.

Vatsa built native iOS and Android applications paired with a backend IoT platform. The applications connect to OBD devices via Bluetooth, parse real-time engine health data, and surface alerts for service-relevant diagnostic codes.

The fleet manager view aggregates data across the entire fleet — live vehicle health, trip history, and maintenance scheduling in a single interface. The consumer driver view surfaces contextual alerts tied to individual driving patterns and service windows.

Insurer view · driving pattern

Chapter 03 · Outcomes

Fleet managers with a live view across their fleet. Drivers with actionable service alerts.

iOS + AndroidBoth platforms shipped
Real-timeEngine health and service alerts
Fleet + ConsumerDual audience, purpose-built views

The application shipped on both platforms. Fleet managers gained a live view of vehicle health across their fleet, replacing manual inspection cycles with real-time alerts and scheduled maintenance visibility. Consumer drivers received contextual alerts tied to their driving patterns and diagnostic readings.
