A group of independent board-certified physicians running pre-operative screening services for surgical centres needed a platform to manage patient intake, clearance workflows, and outcomes tracking.
The existing process was paper and fax-based, with no connection to the surgical centres' scheduling systems. Clearance decisions were recorded inconsistently, patient records existed in formats that couldn't be queried, and the physician group had no data foundation for tracking outcomes across their patient population.
Chapter 02 · Build
HL7-integrated platform connecting screening to surgical scheduling.
Vatsa built an HL7-integrated platform that connected the screening practice to surgical centre scheduling systems.
Patient records flow in via HL7 ADT messages. Clearance decisions are recorded in a structured format aligned to clinical documentation requirements. Summary documents are generated for the surgical team and the patient's primary care physician — replacing the fax workflow with a structured, auditable record. The platform gave the physician group a data foundation for tracking outcomes across patient populations for the first time.

Structured clearance records. Faster turnaround. A data foundation for outcomes tracking.
Pre-operative screening decisions were documented in a consistent, structured format for the first time. Clearance turnaround time dropped significantly. The platform gave the physician group a data foundation for tracking outcomes across patient populations — replacing the paper record that had no queryable history.
